Why schools come to us

And keep coming back.

Same person, every time
No call centre. No re-explaining your setup. One person who knows your school.
School budgets understood
We'll always tell you what can wait vs what genuinely can't.
We work around school time
Big jobs in the holidays. Urgent support during the school day.
Proven with NZ primary schools
We know what works in NZ classrooms — not learned on the job.
We walk you through it
You're a teacher, not an IT person. We explain things simply and don't expect you to know the jargon.
What NZ primary schools must have in place

Required by law and insurers.

Most schools have gaps they don't know about yet. These are the most common ones:

!
Privacy Act 2020 — MFA on staff logins and tested offsite backup of student data are the two recognised practical requirements.
!
N4L Managed Network — Devices and accounts must be configured correctly to stay covered under the managed network agreement.
!
Google Workspace content filtering — GWfE provides student filtering, but only when configured correctly. Default settings are often not sufficient.
!
BYOD controls — If students bring devices, the school needs both a policy and the technical controls to back it up.

Know where you stand

Not sure what you need? The audit is the right starting point — it gives both of us a clear picture of what's in place and what's missing, with a written report you can take to your Board. Many schools start here before committing to anything else.
Tech Audit & Report $ 295 fixed
Plain-English assessment of your school's current IT. Delivered as a written report your Board can act on.
  • All devices and their condition reviewed
  • Account and access audit — staff logins, admin access, shared accounts
  • Security baseline check — MFA, backups, filtering
  • Compliance gap summary — Privacy Act, N4L, BYOD
  • Prioritised recommendations with estimated costs
  • Written report suitable for Board review

Accounts and access

Most schools are on Google Workspace for Education — it's free for NZ schools. But being on it and having it set up correctly are different things. If student accounts aren't configured properly, filtering doesn't work and content controls are off. This is the most common gap we find.
Google Workspace for Education Setup $ 295 fixed
Google Workspace for Education (GWfE) is free for NZ schools — but setting it up so that student content is filtered and admin access is correct takes real configuration work. We handle the full admin setup, not just account creation.
  • Google Workspace for Education (GWfE) verified and configured
  • Organisational units set up — staff, students, year groups
  • Content filtering and SafeSearch enforced for students
  • Apps and services locked to age-appropriate access
  • Staff admin access configured correctly
  • Existing accounts migrated if needed
  • Staff walkthrough included
Security Baseline $ 390 fixed
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) on all staff accounts, tested offsite backup, hardened admin access. This covers the core Privacy Act 2020 obligation.
  • Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) enforced on all staff accounts
  • Admin access cleaned up — no shared admin passwords
  • Offsite backup configured and tested for critical data
  • Restore test documented in writing
  • Email security — anti-phishing, SPF/DKIM records
  • Written security baseline record for Board

How many devices do you have? Device setup is priced per device — you can see the exact cost for your fleet. If you're not sure of the count, estimate and we'll confirm on the audit. Minimum 5 devices per session.

Training & BYOD

Staff skills make or break IT in a school. The most common security breach in NZ schools is a teacher clicking a phishing email. A 1-hour practical session on spotting them — plus MFA and password basics — is genuinely high-value. If your school runs BYOD, we can set up the network controls and give parents a clear guide.
Staff Training Session $ 195 session
1 hour, up to 15 staff. Practical and jargon-free. Topics tailored to your school. Use the counter to add multiple sessions.
  • Spotting phishing emails — the most common attack on NZ schools
  • Password hygiene and Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) in practice
  • Google Workspace for Education (GWfE) basics for teachers
  • Safe Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) management in the classroom
  • Student digital safety — what the tools do and don't control

Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Setup & Parent Guide $ 195 fixed

Per-term support retainer

Not sure if you need ongoing support? Retainers are per school term — no long contracts. If you just need a one-off blitz, that's fine too. The retainer is useful if you want someone on call during the school day without paying by the hour every time something breaks.
School size Included per term Per-term fee Select
Small (up to 150 students) 4 hrs onsite + 2 hrs remote + priority response $480 + GST
Medium (150–350 students) 8 hrs onsite + 4 hrs remote + priority response $890 + GST
Larger (350–600 students) 14 hrs onsite + 6 hrs remote + priority response $1490 + GST
All retainers include 4-hr response time during school hours. Additional hours: $95/hr onsite, $75/hr remote. No rollover between terms. No lock-in — cancel after any term.

Common questions
Straight answers
Do you need to be on the Ministry of Education's Approved ICT Contractors list?
For general IT support, device setup, and Google Workspace admin — no. The approved list applies to specific network and infrastructure projects. We'll always advise on what procurement path applies before any work starts.
We're on N4L's Managed Network. Does that change things?
N4L provides the internet and network backbone. We work on the devices, accounts, and services that sit on top of it. Most of what we do for schools is entirely separate from the N4L managed layer.
We have a mix of Google and Microsoft accounts and it's a mess. Where do you start?
The audit is the right starting point. We document what you have, find the conflicts, and recommend a path forward. We won't tell you to throw everything out unless that's genuinely the right answer.
Can you help us procure new devices?
Yes — we can advise on what to buy for your budget and use case, help source through the right channels (including Ministry procurement catalogue where applicable), and handle setup as part of the same job. We don't take supplier commissions.
Do you work with secondary schools?
Our experience and packages are built for primary and junior schools (Years 1–8). Secondary schools have considerably more complex requirements. We'll be honest if a secondary school's needs are beyond our current scope.
